Once a domain enters PENDINGTRANSFER status, it’s name servers cannot be modified until the transfer is complete. You may want to modify your domains name servers before beginning the transfer.

If the domain is expiring within 89 days, you will have an option to renew the domain during transfer.

Click [Transfer]

See Approving the .au domain transfer below for further steps

Approving the .au domain transfer

Once a request has been made to transfer the .au domain to Netregistry, an email will be sent to the registrant contact email address of the domain (this email can take 1-2 hours to be sent). You can check what the current registrant contact email address for your .au domain is at AusRegistry’s website.

If you do not currently have access to this email address, you must contact your current registrar and request they update your domain registrant contact email address.

To proceed with the transfer, an approval link that is provided to the registrant contact email address must be clicked. Once clicked, the request to transfer the domain begins. It generally takes 48 hours from the moment the link is clicked for the .au domain to be transferred to Netregistry.

Review status of transfer

See Review order status support page for steps.

.au domain transfer process

Netregistry advise AusRegistry of transfer request

Domain enters PENDINGTRANSFER status

Current registrar release domain (typically within 48 hours of request)

Domain is transferred to Netregistry

Steps for a new customer to transfer a .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz domain to Netregistry

The Transfer Process

The transfer of domain names is a process that allows you to consolidate the renewal of your domain names with a single supplier. You can transfer your domain names to Netregistry and then we inform you in the future when their renewal is due.

The transfer of .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz Domain names usually complete within 5-10 days and requires a minimal of 1 year renewal upon transfer. Domain transfers follow the procedures outlined in ICANN’s Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy as follows:

A domain name transfer order is submitted by the customer, via the NetRegistry website.

Once NetRegistry receives the transfer order, the domain’s Administrative Contact email address is retrieved from the whois record. We then email an “Authorisation for Registrar Transfer” to the Administrative Contact of the domain within 24 hours. This transfer authorisation e-mail contains a unique link, authorising the transfer of the domain name to NetRegistry. NetRegistry must receive a response from this email to continue with the transfer of a .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz domain name.

If your domain is unlocked and we received transfer authorisation from you, upon clicking the link in the original email, a transfer command request is sent to Official Registry for approval within 5 days. The Registry contacts both registrars involved in the domain transfer. Unless the Current Registrar legitimately denies the domain transfer, or you tell them to stop it, the transfer of the domain to NetRegistry occurs within 5 days.

If the transfer of the domain is successful, our system will receive the domain, your billing information is charged for the renewal of the domain and the transferred domain is placed into your NetRegistry account. Clients are then notified via email of the successful completion of the transfer.

Transfer Checklist for .com/.net/.org/.info/.biz Domain Names

Perform a whois search on the domain name you wish to transfer and complete the following steps.

Ensure the domain name is not within 60 days of the initial registration or a previous registrar transfer

Domain names cannot be transferred within the first 60 days of being registered, or within 60 days of being transferred from another registrar. Some registrars have security measures in place where they will not allow the transfer of a domain name within 60 days of the registrant information being updated. You will need to check with your existing registrar for further information to see if this applies to your domain.

Domain name is in ACTIVE / OK status

To successfully transfer a domain, it must have its status set to “ACTIVE”. If the status is “locked”, you will need to have the domain un-locked through your existing registrar. Also, if your domain’s status is “ON HOLD” (e.g. non-payment or dispute) or “REDEMPTION PERIOD” you will not be able to transfer the domain. NetRegistry recommends submitting your domain name transfer order at least 7 days before an expiration date. If the domain name expires during the transfer process, the DNS will stop working, therefore any website and or email service you have for this domain will not work until the transfer has been completed.

Administrative contact’s email address is correct, up to date, and you can access messages sent to it

The Administrative whois contact for your domain must authorise transfers. During a transfer, an “Authorization for Registrar Transfer” email is sent to the administrative email address. Check your whois report to ensure that the Administrative Contact email address is one you have access to – if this address is inaccurate or inaccessible, update it with your existing registrar before submitting a domain transfer request. If you do not respond to the “Authorization for Registrar Transfer” email, your domain cannot be transferred.

Obtain the domain authorisation code (EPP Password) from current registrar

The .ORG, .BIZ, .INFO, .COM & NET Registry’s require an Authorisation Code (also sometimes called AUTH CODE, AUTHINFO, AUTH or EPP Code) to approve domain name transfers. Obtain this code from your current registrar before submitting a domain transfer, otherwise your domain will not be able to be transferred. You will need to enter the EPP code in at the time you respond to the “Authorization for Registrar Transfer” email (which is sent to the administrative whois contact for your domain).

Credit card details are valid for renewal of domain.Upon completion of transfer, the domain is renewed for 1 year (or however many years you have selected to be renewed)

Once you have completed the above steps, you will be able to submit a transfer request to transfer the registration of your domain name to NetRegistry. If you have any questions, or if you need advice, NetRegistry have a dedicated Domain Administration Team on hand to help. Contact our Domain Administration Team on 02 9934 0501 (international callers: +61 2 9934 0501).

.nz Transfer Process

The transfer of domain names is a process that allows you to consolidate the renewal of your domain names with a single supplier. You can transfer your domain names to Netregistry and then we inform you in the future when their renewal is due.

A domain transfer order is submitted by the customer, via the Netregistry website or The Console. This transfer order must contain the UDAI (Unique Domain Authentication Identifier) password for the domain. If a password is not supplied, or it is incorrect, the transfer will not be successful.

Once Netregistry receives the transfer order, we verify the UDAI password with the New Zealand Registry, to ensure that the transfer can proceed. When we receive confirmation that the UDAI password is correct, we will then apply directly to the Registry for the transfer of the domain.

The New Zealand Registry will transfer the domain immediately (as long as the UDAI password is correct) and the domain will be set up within Netregistry’s console. Clients will be notified of the successful transfer via email. Your billing information will also be charged for the renewal of the domain, which is required when transferring .nz domains.

Please note: Netregistry does not send “requests for authorisation” emails for .nz domain transfers.

What is my UDAI password?

The UDAI (Unique Domain Authentication Identifier) password is only applicable to .nz domains. If you have lost your UDAI password, simply contact your registrar.

If you are a Netregistry customer, simply log in to the console, click on the “Domain Name” link and press “Generate new UDAI password”.

Transfer Checklist for .nz Domain Names

Obtain the UDAI authorization code from current registrar.

The .nz Registry requires a special password called a UDAI to approve domain name transfers. Obtain this password code from your current registrar before submitting a domain transfer otherwise your domain will not be able to be transferred.

Once you have completed the above step, clients will be able to submit a transfer request to transfer the registration of your domain name to Netregistry. If you have any questions, or if you need advice, Netregistry has a dedicated Domain Administration Team on hand to help. Contact our Domain Administration Team on 1300 638 734.

.uk Transfer Process

Update the IPS-TAG for your domain to PLANETDOMAIN-AU
You will need to contact your existing registrar and request that they change your IPS-TAG to Netregistry’s, which is PLANETDOMAIN-AU. This can usually only be completed by the registrar.

Submit a transfer form via Netregistry’s uk domain transfer page.

Netregistry will commence the transfer of the domain name once the transfer form is received.

When the Registry confirms the domain transfer has taken place (typically 2-4 business days), the domain name will be set-up in the console. Customers will then be charged for 2 years of registration, the minimum requirement for .uk domain transfers.

Please note that with .uk domain transfers, a request for authorisation email is NOT required.

If you have any questions, or if require advice, Netregistry has a dedicated domain administration team on hand to help. Contact our domain administration team on 1300 638 734, or email domains@netregistry.com.au.

To connect to the file storage system and upload or download website files, users require an FTP client and a website’s FTP details. These details consist of

Host: ftp.partnerconsole.net or ftp.domain.tld

Port: 21

User: FTP username

Password: FTP password

Some FTP clients may ask users to provide additional details such as

Server type: FTP (SFTP, FTPS, and FPTES are not supported)

Log on type: Normal

Path or directory: Enter a forward slash /

These details allow for a connection to a Web Hosting service that has been previously provisioned for use by a given domain. Customers must have previously subscribed to a web hosting service in order to access the server space via FTP.

Once a connection has been made to the file storage system, web pages and other website related files may be transferred onto the server via FTP and made available for viewing over the internet.

Domain ownership of .au domain names can often be confusing and controversial. This page outlines a number of complaint scenarios, which might explain the process with more clarity.

The Australian Domain Name Administrator (auDA) is the governing body that regulates and maintains policies in the .au name space. They have several policies and defined procedures surrounding complaints handling for .au domain registrations.

Below are some of the most common complaints that arise. Please keep in mind, all complaints are different and they are handled dependent on each circumstance.

Trademark/Company ownership claims to domain names

When it comes to registering .au domain names, registrations are provided on first-come, first-served basis to available applicants. Prior to the policy changes in 2002, a registered business name was required to be eligible to register a .com.au or .net.au domain name. This is no longer the case, as long as a customer has an exact match or close and substantial connection to a domain, along with valid registrant data, you are eligible to register any domain you wish.

Please be aware, if you hold a Trademark/Registered Business Name/Company similar to a domain name, you are not automatically entitled to register a domain of the same name. If the name was registered by another organisation before your company existed, and the other organisation is still eligible, they are able to maintain control of the domain license.

However, if you believe that the current registrant of a domain is not eligible to hold the registration, then you will need to lodge an eligibility complaint.

Scenario 1

Jessica owns a business name registration for “Red Apples”. She goes to register the domain name “redapples.com.au”, but discovers that it is registered to “Sarah Smith”, using a sole Trader ABN, but trading under the name “Red Apples Design”. Jessica is upset as she feels that she should be the owner of the domain rather than Sarah.

In this situation, Sarah is eligible to hold the registration of the domain redapples.com.au, as she has a close and substantial connection to the domain name. She was first in to register the domain, and as long as she continues to trade under the name “Red Apples Design”, she will remain eligible to hold the registration license.

Depending on the date Jessica registered the “Red Apples” domain, she may or may not be able to lodge a complaint through the .au Dispute Resolution Process (auDRP). She would need to contact auDA to determine the domain name registration date, and could then make a decision on whether to pursue her complaint further.

Eligibility Complaints

For the complete list of rules surrounding .au domain name registrations, visit auDA’s Domain Name Eligibility and Allocation Policy, Rules for the Open 2LDs policy at http://www.auda.org.au/policies/auda-2005-01/

As long as the domain registrant remains eligible to hold the registration of a domain, they are able to renew it every 2 years, and cannot be forced by another party to cancel or transfer the registration of the domain licence.

Please note, if the ABN/ACN/Registered Business Name/Incorporated Association or Trademark number used to register a domain name is cancelled, then the registrant may no longer be eligible to hold the domain licence. If this is the case, a complaint can be made against the domain name to the registrar of record (that is the company that the domain is registered through), to determine whether the registration is still valid.

Depending on the circumstances of the complaint, the registrant may be provided with a period of time to update their details. However, if the name is no longer eligible, it may be deleted from the registry and made available for public registration.

If you believe that a domain, registered through TPP Wholesale, no longer meets eligibility criteria, you can lodge an official complaint below, and a member of TPP Wholesale’s Compliance team will investigate your claims.

[contact-form-7]

Scenario 2

Mark noticed that the owner of timberblinds.com.au, David, is using an expired business name as his eligibility ID to support the registration of the domain name. The domain is registered through TPP Wholesale, so Mark contacts TPP Wholesale and lodges an official complaint.

TPP Wholesale’s Domain Complaints team review Mark’s complaint, and realise that the Registered Business Name that David was using had indeed expired. They contact David, and provide him with 14 days notice to update his eligibility details, or risk the domain name being de-registered. David responds to the request and provides an updated and valid ABN number, and the registration of the domain is updated, so that the name meets eligibility criteria. If David had not responded, the domain name would have been deleted. However, as he provided the requested information, he is able to retain ownership of the domain licence.

Scenario 3

Bianca is interested in registering the domain name pinkbeads.com.au, but the domain is already registered to someone else. She looks up the registrant information on the domain via a whois search, and notices that the domain registrant appears to be an individual with no connection to the name “pink beads”. She lodges an official complaint through TPP Wholesale, the registrar of record for the domain name.

TPP Wholesale’s Domain Complaints team review Bianca’s complaint. The domain registrant is contacted, and is given 14 days to explain their connection to the domain name. The registrant does not respond within 14 days, so TPP Wholesale, unable to determine the connection between the domain name and registrant, cancel the registration licence. If the domain owner had responded within 14 days with a valid explanation of the connection, they would have been able to retain the domain licence, but because they did not respond, TPP Wholesale had no choice but to cancel the domain registration. The domain name is placed in a 14 day “auDA POLICY DELETE” status, before being released back into the public pool of available domains the next business day.

Before delegating your DNS to PartnerConsole or “going live” you may need to test your webfiles on our servers via a staging address/URL (usually referred to as a “Staging URL”).

Cloud hosting Staging URL

Your staging URL can be found via the following method:

1. Login to a Client Account

2. Locate the Domain Name from the Drop Down and click Administer

3. Click the Web Hosting link

4. Staging URL is displayed under Server Settings

If your Web Hosting area does not display the staging URL, it still exists and you can obtain it by merely following this syntax:

To obtain your user name and server:

Under Server Settings you will see “Host type”, this is your server version.

Click on ‘click here to modify your ftp details’.
Under ‘Username’ you will see your ftp username.

Now you have your ftp username and server name you can figure out your staging address/URL:

[username].staging-[server].netregistry.net

eg. A domain with FTP username user1234, will have the staging address of: user1234.staging-[server].netregistry.net

Please refer to the staging address server list below:

1. The Zeus staging address is:
staging-zeus.netregistry.net

2. The Apache staging address is:
staging-apache.netregistry.net

3. The ASP.NET 4.0 staging address is:
staging-iis7-2.netregistry.net

3. The ASP.NET 3.5 staging address is:
staging-iis7.netregistry.net

eg. if you were on the PHP Zeus server for example your staging address would be:
user1234.staging-zeus.netregistry.net

Unlike cPanel hosting, our clustered cloud environments do not allow the use of php.ini for modifications of default PHP configuration. In order to modify the global PHP options in Cloud hosting, you need to use the ini_set(); PHP function inside the code of your scripts as required.

If the directive that you wish to change is not available for modification using ini_set, then you might want to consider upgrading to a cPanel based plan, where php.ini may be used and more freedom is allowed. However the developers of php have attempted to ensure that most operational changes can be made using the ini_set(); function.

Using ini_set(); command in scripts

It’s the same as using any other PHP command, you merely add the command to a script which requires whatever new option you wish to set. e.g. if you need to increase upload size limit to upload a file to a folder – update the uploading script to include the PHP option directive. See Examples below for what it should appear as.

For full syntax of all types of ini_set command directives, please visit the php manual: http://php.net/manual/en/function.ini-set.php

Please note that not all the available PHP options can be changed using ini_set(). A list of all available options can be found at: http://www.php.net/manual/en/ini.list.php

Examples of ini_set(); directives in PHP scripts

Increasing Memory limit using ini_set command to 128MB:

 ini_set('memory_limit','128MB');

Increasing default size limitation for file Uploads to 50MB per file:

ini_set('upload_max_filesize','50MB');

Full list of available ini_set directives is located at http://www.php.net/manual/en/ini.list.php

Making the update global for your hosting account

You might want all your subdirectories and scripts to use the same updated configuration. To achieve this, simply place the ini_set code into file that is globally included for your website application.

Most web applications use include files for standard configuration options for the application. Update any include file which is loaded in all your scripts – and the configuration update will be in effect across the entire application.

For example, adding these commands to your wordpress installation’s wp-config.php file, will make the changes take affect across your whole wordpress site.
